Odd Hard Drive issue

I reinstalled windows and this issue arose. Now when I click on my 250GB drive theres a slight delay in accessing any of the files, the longest delay is when I click on my music directory which contains a lot of files in their own directories. Explorer freezes temporarily until windows does something and then I'm able to access the files no problem. If I use the folder view in explorer then I can click the plus sign and the delay is just to create the large list that is created. This problem is irritating me and I hope one of you guys with more computer wisdom has an answer.
