Question for you guys...

I am currently running onboard sound off a MSI K7-N2 mobo. The sound has always been a bit flaky. I get stuttering voices from in game video. I know this must be audio related because I don't get any other graphical slowdown. But the big issue that is killing me is that a lot of the time (I'd say 85%) I get an odd whistling noise coming from my speakers. I know it isn't the speakers because I've plugged headphones directly into the audio out jack and get the same thing. If it means anything the whistling isn't terrible loud (which is why I've ignored it for a while) and sort of varies in pitch. But it is getting on my nerves as of late. Any ideas? I've had my share of issues with this motherboard so I am curious if it is that, or some other problem I don't know about...
