Odd Explorer Problem

So I'm trying to work on this customers computer, and for some reason Internet Explorer will not connect to anything. I installed Firefox and everything connects fine. Everything that connects to the net is getting a signal loud and clear, with the exception of IE 7. Anyone heard of a problem like this?
 
did you check for proxy server settings in IE? I have allso seen some spyware that hijacked IE so bad that it had this issue.
