Odd E4500 temps - Problem?

I posted this over at overclock.net but didn't get much feedback.

I suddenly started getting bluescreens on a system that's been stable for some time. I've got an E4500 in a DFI Infinity P965 Dark with stock cooling. The system had been running fine with a minor overclock (running at 2.6GHz) for months. I didn't have a lot of time so I reset the bios back to stock speed (2.2GHz) and it still seems a bit flakey.

So I ran Everest 4.50.1480) (and SpeedFan4.35) and noticed some odd temps. (room temp about 26c-27c) All the temps below are AT IDLE. This is with the stock retail cooler (and at the 2.2GHz base speed).

I also tested with HWMonitor, same results. Interestingly, if I run Everest Stability Tests, after 5 minutes the CPU temp doesn't really move, but the cores do

Any comments or suggestions? I thought typically CPU should be lower than the core's at all times? Also, is this sensor located on the mobo, or in the cpu. If I can't resolve the problem, I need to get an RMA.

Try using Real Temp to monitor your temperatures. Based on the core temps reported by Speedfan and Everest in those screens, it looks like your temps are perfectly fine. However, Real Temp tends to be more accurate.

I don't see anything wrong and don't worry about the CPU temp, it's the DTS (Core temp) that you need to worry about. It's probably a motherboard sensor.

Your motherboard's sensor isn't working for some reason. Try flashing BIOS.
