i dont know whats up, i dont get a tray icon any more and ccc wont start, if i right click on the desktop i see the ccc button in the menu but clicking it gives me only a litel disk activity and then nothing... same gose for shotcuts and directly running any of the exe's

i have removed the smartgrat drivers, and ran the radeon uninstall that ATi provides. i have tryed every version of the driver i have on this machine... from 5.5 thought 6.7 includeing the drivers that where on the cd (6.4 i beleave...) regardless of what i do ccc will not run...

i am getting full accelleration in games (both ogl and dx) but i have no control over them...
in between each install of the drivers i was shure to run the uninstall (or cleaner if you will)utility... and i have tryed both versions of the download for ati, the seperate (lowspeed files) and the bundle (high speed)

oddly enought i have tryed a repair install of XP and got squat out of that...still getting the exact same behavior, im at a loss. im thinking about throwings a spare drive in and a fresh install to it just to see what it dose.. its about the only thing i havent tryed... but i would like to see if you guys have any other tricks i may not have thought up yet

it dosent seem to be a problem with the display driver its self, as i have said i get full accelleration, and the ati demos work just fine.

as well.. i use the landscape portrate rotate feature when im doing school work so i would really like to get ccc back up and running...

i'm avoiding a format at all costs. to much stuff will get lost (becuase i never seem to be able to back up every thing .. something always gets missed)

this is the only error i can find on what is going on, if someone can shed some light on exactly what it means

The first thing that comes to mind for me is .NET. I'd remove any versions of it you have and reinstall and see if that helps any.

You will need .NET 1.1 for CCC to work, but .NET 2.0 is known to cause to issues. You may want to remove both, including SP, and then install just .NET 1.1.

ok' ive uninstalled .net 2.0 ( i dont even rememeber installing it.. but ok.. ) i uninstalled .net 1.1.. i uninstalled 1.0... i used microsofts fancy registry zapper thingy... uninstalled ccc, drivers and every thing else... downloaded fresh sets saved to a different local... reinstalled .net 1.1 drivers ect... i set get the EXACT same error... it has gotta be something else... this is really wierd that i get the same error no matter what i do.. judging for the discription in the error, its almost like windows isnt assigning the program to a cpu ( like it wants an affifity check or something ) any ideas?

Weird one. Wish I had an answer for you.

One thing you may want to do is check the msconfig pane and the Services pane. You can do both via the Run window. "msconfig" will launch the System Configuration Utility and "services.msc" will launch the Services pane. In the Starup tab in the System Configuration Utility, cli.exe should be the only listed ATi application. It should be checked by default.

In the Services pane, there are two processes that need to be running here. The first is the ATi Hotkey Poller, which is called atievxx.exe. The other is slipping my mind at the moment, but also needs to be a running process for the CCC to launch (it'll be clearly labeled as an ATi process). Make sure both are set to Automatic (although Manual may also work, but would be pointless) and restart the machine.

After that? I don't have a clue. I think it's very possible you're looking at a format. I imagine ATi support will tell you the same thing. You can avoid this for a while by using ATi Tray Tools, but that program is a bit finicky about properly setting AA and AF. It sometimes requires some random number of display refreshes and/or restarts to get things working correctly. The CCC is remarkably slow, but at least it's somewhat reliable.

Just to be sure that it's not a virus or maleware messing things up for you run an online scan with f-secure here. http://www.f-secure.com/
Look at the low left hand side, there is a blue box, scroll down and at the bottom there's a link that say "scan my computer now"
This pops up a new window. Scroll down and at the bottom there is a button that say "Start Scanning" click it.
You will be promted to install a small program, install it and then click accept on the license agreement.
Next page click "Full system scan" wich will start a download with deffinition files and then the scan starts.

Might fix the problem or not but at least you will be sure that you don't have any virus or maleware messing it up for you.

i know there wasnt a virus on the machine, i use avg, edwido, spy bot s&d w/tea timer, hijackthis and adware, all of witch i update all the time and ran each at least 4 times during the process, im pretty confident its not a virus

i ended up doing a fresh install and not a repair... didnt loose any data.. but its takeing forever to get every thing back up (reinstalling programs and such) too bad i couldnt fix it.. in the research i did, i did find that the error message was generated by .net and the turtorial i read said that it was supposed to include a buch of info as to what was going on, (if programed well) but it didnt and thats for the most part why it couldnt be diagnosed... ohh well its back now...
