I have an odd problem with my new setup (specs in sig). Every time I exit certain games - Raven Shield and Pandora Tomorrow that I know of for sure - windows crashes and the computer reboots. Upon booting up again, windows tells me that there was a problem with the video card drivers that caused the "serious error". I haven't gotten this problem playing Doom 3. I have a friend who has a 6600GT (AGP version) who has the same problem with the same two games, so I'm pretty certain it is the video card, since that is the only common componet between our two computers. I've tried running driver cleaner and installing the latest beta NVidia drivers (I started out with the last WHQL drivers from NVidia's website) but the problem persists. What I can't figure out is why this problem would exist in some games and not others. When I installed Pandora Tomorrow, it even told me my video drivers were out of date (and to install the 53.xx drivers included on the CD)! Has anybody else had a similar problem? If so, what did you do to fix it? Thanks for any help you guys can offer.
 
could also be driect x or chipset drivers be shure thows are upto date.... may as well be ram, (thow mushkin is usually good.. i consider every thing..) what are your voltage rails like, exiting a game can be even wose than loading one as the sudden dump spikes the cpu usage forces the ram to clear and drops any page file sitting on disk back to ram.
also assuming you friend is running sata as well.. be shure that your psu's cables are clear and away from the sata cables, could be data curption, on that note, looks at the web page for those games and see if theres known issues with your card and or xx.xx dirvers
 
I have the same problem. It only happens when I exit the games, which might be more frustrating than during the game. However, the problem isn't consistent, it won't ALWAYS BSOD but probably around 30% of the time. I've had the problem playing America's Army and Prince of Persia. Though, I get a bluescreen which says IRQL error, I'm not sure if that's what you're talking about.

I have the latest BIOS and drivers for each thing.
 
I remember when I was using my 160GB EIDE Maxtor 7200RPM HDD games that were loaded my harddrive (UT2K4, for example) would BSOD on exit....but the harddrive is/was a piece, so I blame that. It could be a comedy of things, but if you and ur friend both have the same issue, I'd blame the videocard/drivers. Just pray for an update sometime soon ;)
