OCZ Vdimm Booster..warning

Unless you have double sided mem you are kinda fucked. Well, on my board anyway. I can only run single sided in dimm 1 & 2, meaning the booster is in 3 and it it DOES NOT FIT!!! ....unless you take off the heatsinks, and then it gets so damn hot you get errors. (*#%^*(&#^(*@#%$(&^!%!~!@#@#ers!
 
These are the ones that get hot, verrrry hot. Like burn your finger type shit. And with no sinks on them, well...there you go. I tried putting a 120mm pointed at them, but it did not work. I am not sure what to do. I am selling my Corsair pc4000, it is double sided. Maybe I will try it and see how it goes, if I can get above 250 maybe I will keep it them, as that is what they can run at now just fine (250). I hate having locked multipliers.....you never know if it is your mem or your chip stopping you.

if you sale that corsair oc4000, how much is it? how how much would you be willing to let it go for :-D

You can place small heatsinks (like this but a little smaller) on each of those regulators with a small nut and bolt (or thermal epoxy). Use a little thermal paste between the tab and heatsink if you use a nut and bolt.

You should be able to carefully bend each one up to attach heatsinks without damaging them. I wouldn't do that more than once though.

I have thought about searching for something of the sort, but they would have to be very small, as it they would right next to / alomst touching a stick of mem. I wonder if I can find any that small.
 
i havent read up on those devices, are they supposed to be really effective or is it all gimmick?
 
Not sure what you mean, but ther is nothing wrong with OCZ. I run OCZ EL 4400 mem. It is smokes about anything else out there right now...and with lifetime warranty, you cant go wrong ;)
 
He's just another OCZ hater. The misinformed...

OCZ products are at the top of the pack in almost every catagory. Check out the 2-2-2-2 PC3200 article @ Anandtech. Hell, even the creator of Lost Circuits now works for them.
