Probably old news, I know about 2 weeks ago I saw the test that was conducted on it. I do think its pretty shitty they used a supplier to make their thermal compound.

I do like the idea that the realize the mistake and are doing something about it, but then again its pretty shitty they didnt test it before selling it.

Stay with Arctic Silver boyz and girlz.

EDIT: Anyone wanna give me some of that compound so i can send it in for a tube of AS from them :D?

I saw that thread and thought it was pretty lame, how do you not test a product out before your market it? Glad I use artic silver.

....I'll bet every one out there, even AS, uses a subcontractor of some sort to make their stuff for them. That alone means nothing in terms of product quality; it may in fact mean better quality if the subcon is skilled at formulating compounds like these.

didnt know that B.B.S.

I though since AS made thermal compoiund like whao that they themselves would be the only one who acutally produced it

i have always thought that OCZ was nothing more than hype, i guess i was right :D

Most computer users that build their own machines go around on hardware review sites and whatever is getting reviewed the most they automatically claim to be good. They dont realize that just cause its getting reviewed alot and gets a good review doesn't mean anything.

Most reviews are farely bias in one way or another and for good reason. Hardware review sites get samples from manufacters to review for free because when their product gets a good review online lots of people buy it. Also in turn if its a bad review lots of people dont buy it. The way most review sites do it is that they dont really lie, they just "fail" to point out the problems with it however small they may be. That way they can give the hardware a descent score for its good parts. Alot of reviews, especially RAM reviewers dont really know how to accurately test anyways. MaximumPC did a write up and used a memory tester to show that the OCZ couldn't even run its rated speed error free. The reviews i see on RAM rarely talk about testing for errors. They just go by how well it overclocks.

We do not use any subcontractors. All Arctic Silver products are manufactured by Arctic Silver, Inc. in sunny, central California.

Shin-Tsu makes their own thermal compound, callled Microsi. It's my TIM of choice, and is one of the highest rated ever. Right up there with Arctic Silver 5. I have no idea what its made of, maybe whoever did the test on the OCZ, CompUSA and AS coud get a lab report on it :) OCZ isnt that bad of a company. I have used their ram in the past, and have had no problems. The platinum heat spreaders look so sweet! Mushkin and Corsair is better though. OCZ ramsinks are great too. I am glad that they are addressing the silver issue, unlike CompUSA which has not done anything, and will not respond to the claims.

...have to say I'm impressed. I would have not been surprised if you guys contracted out the mixing / fomulation of your thermal compounds....but, I stand corrected.

Thanks - B.B.S.
