I was able to buy the above Revodrive for $180, which I thought was a damn good deal for an ssd of that size. It is a last generation controller that runs at current SATA III speeds for more modern SSD's. (at least I think so, please correct me if I am wrong).

I have a couple of questions.. Does anyone have any experience with these? This drive will pretty much just about match something like the Corsair Force 3 120g drive (ATTO benchmarks compared), but how easy/hard/painintheass is it to setup and have and use?

Secondly, would anyone be able to link me something in which I can go and check out how to actually set up the damn thing so it works well? By now, i figured the drivers would be mature enough to not cause much trouble, but I haven't been able to find something that is a step by step setup guide for getting these installed. I still have time to cancel the order if you guys think that its not worth getting this drive or if i got a bad deal on it.

This is my system:

i5-2500k @ 4.7ghz
Asrock P67 Extreme4 Gen 3
Corsair 120g Force 3 ssd
Couple of 560ti's.

It is a simple process, all you need are the drivers ahead of time on a flash drive if you will be using it as a operating system disk, then simply install the driver like you would a raid drive during the windows install. Otherwise plug it into the slot start windows and install the drivers and go into disk management and partition/format the drive. If you using Linux or some other system the process should be similar.

As for reliability and immaturity of the drivers I am unsure. The price sounds great at $180. You should do a little more research I am pretty sure the revodrives suffer from all the plagues the first generation SSD's did. If it has the newest version of sandforce controller then I would buy it also.
 
Do you have any good PCIe connector left ? By good, I mean not connected to the crappy DMI.
 
If you're using the first two x16 slots for video cards, then you'll be running the ocz card over the dmi link using the 3rd x16 slot. Intel's sata ports connect to the CPU over that link as well (through the P67 chipset), should be about the same as running a similarly spec'd ssd on the intel ports.
 
Alright, so that means that the drive will not be bottlenecked by the PCIe connection. That is good to know. Anyone have any experience with these drives and know how I should optimize it?
 
Well, you could still bottleneck the DMI connection depending on what else you have hanging off the chipset.

You shouldn't need to do anything to optimize it, stick it in and install windows.
 
Hmmm.. alright then. Should I be able to do all the same things I would do to an SSD to maximize the performance? Like disabling hibernation and tweaking other stuff around? Hopefully I don't see a performance drop from my Corsair Force 3 120g ssd.
 
Unless something is wrong, the only place you'll likely be able to tell the difference is on benchmarks. Not sure but the Revo might add a couple seconds to boot while it does it's BIOS stuff.
 
Yeah, the revo will add a couple seconds to the boot time, it's just like adding any other controller card, it needs to initialize. But what stuff are you planning on "tweaking" to maximize performance? You're not still running windows XP are you?
