Ok here goes,

I had as follows:

Opteron 165 at 2.7ghz
DFI NF4 Ultra D
XFX 7900 GT
OCZ Gold 2x1gb @ 250
Envy 24 soundcard
Lite On DVD burner
Seagate 7200.10 320gb HDD
OCZ 520 ADJ SLI psu
Danger Den Mag pump cooling the cpu and the video card
and 3x120mm fans
2x80mm fans

This configuration was rock stable for months on end, I recently took the video card out of the water loop because I got an evga 8800 GTS 320. I also have switched to Vista Home Premium.

I now notice that the PSU is always blowing moderately hot to very hot air between idle and full load, and it seems that I am having trouble keeping my OC where it was, I get lockups and bsod's.

Is this too much load for that PSU? If you guys think so, what should I upgrade to?

I'm by no means a master of PSU but I have the same PSU as you,,,,,well mine isn't the SLi edition, but doubt there is much diff.
Anyway I've ran mine at some good over clocks on this rig and I also have a 8800gts but have never had any problems. I'm not running water but I have one more optical drive and two more HD than you are running plus an OC vid card.

Could be that I'm just pushing it and have gotten lucky so far. You can try unplugging all but maybe 2 fans and your optic drive, basicaly just lowering your wattage and see if it changes anything.

Not sure the chart I have is still correct but it shows the 8800gts using 115w and the 7900gt at 49w. So I could see your PSU running higher now.

It sounds like an odd issue, as that PSU should be able to handle your rig.

If you have any problems with your replacement let me know.

I have that same PSU running my Main Rig in my sig which has a ton more then yours and it is doing ok. It has however always blown hot air out of it.

I have the same PSU and recently upgraded to a 8800GTS 640 and my PC has been shutting down randomly during the day when I'm at work.

I've been also having problems getting it to boot after a crash unless it stays off for about 2 hours.

The PowerStream and the Expert don't get along to well and suffers from the cold boot issue. But cycling the AC power gets it to boot again.

When it first started doing this I would pull out the ram and reinsert it and it would boot fine, seemed like a wierd fix. But that doesn't work anymore. I tested my ram and it shows no errors.

An 8 hour bios clear worked a few times. But maybe the clear itself isn't what is getting it to boot. Maybe it's the fact that the PSU needs to cool down?

I wonder if the PSU is being over stressed? My goal this weekend was to strip out my watercooling since it needs cleaned anyways, it's pointless at the moment until I get a block for the GPU. Switch back to air...

My chipset fan is running pretty high right now because it doesn't have any thermal paste but I haven't been pushing the PC at all, so it's still in a tolerable temp range.
