This is my first time dealing with this company. I have done some research to find a good quality (according to online reviews) / price compromise.

Mobo is ASUS Crosshair, AMD 5200+

I chose the OCZ2N10662GK, seeing that the memory can be "underclocked" and probably obtain 4,4,4,15 @ 800 MHz (possibly a lil lower). But I was wanting to overclock the system to 266 FSB with the CPU multiplier at 11 (13 default @200Mhz). I know the mobo is capable of 2.1v for the memory. With the FSB @ 266, the multiplier for the memory would be 4 giving it 1066MHz.???

This divider, memory ratio thing is where I get lost.

What would the PCI speed be? PCI-E speed?

If anyone can clear up those questions, or comment about my selection for memory, I would appreciate it.
 
memory ratio sets the memory speed based on the cpu multiplier.

the memory controller is on the cpu, and is running at cpu speed.

let's go through some examples with my own system. first off, to calculate ram divider...
x = ceiling(cpu multi / memory ratio)
where memory ratio is 2:1 (400mhz)
5:3 (333mhz)
4:3 (266mhz)
1:1 (200mhz)

start off with stock. i have a sempron 3400+.. 9x cpu multi. putting some ddr2-800 ram in will make the board set the 400mhz ratio.. 2:1

ceiling (9 / 2/1) = ceiling (4.5) = 5. so the ram is running at cpu/5.
stock htt is 200mhz, cpu is at 1800mhz. so by default, the ram will run at 360mhz.

let's overclock some. change the htt to 312mhz and memory ratio to 333mhz (5:3). cpu multi is still 9x
ceiling( 9 / 5/3) = ceiling(5.4) = cpu/6
cpu speed would be 312*9 = 2808
so ram is 2808/6 = 468mhz

got it now? :D

just tell me what you're trying to do then. the math really isn't that bad, just a few divisions and a multiplication. not calculus or anything ;)

I would like it to run at 1066, I know the Crosshair will support the voltage, and the memory has the EPP for the 590 chipsets to "auto recognize" it.

I have the Asus Crosshair mobo with an AMD 5200+ (with thermaltake mini-typhoon / Artic Cooling Ceramique) I was thinking that (old school OC'n) 200mhz (FSB) X 13 (multiplier) = 2.6GHz, What the 5200+ runs factory. I am aware that they have gotten these mobo's over 350Mhz FSB, but I am not that greedy. I was thinking 266MHz FSB with a multiplier of 11 would give me a CPU speed of 2.926Ghz. About a 13% overclock on the CPU. But HT, HTT, LDT, And whether the PCI and PCI-E busses are locked with multiplier ratios which could mean more heat generated by my VGA card and SB-Xfi-Fat?

Also if this info helps, XFX 7950 GT XXX (615 Mhz) VGA card. (Wife would not let me justify any way shape or form of a 8800 this year).

Seagate 320GB SATA II (3GB)
2 IDE DVD burners

pci/pci-e busses will be locked. if not, have fun getting over 220-240mhz ;)

so basically you want 533mhz ram. there's a couple ways to do that i guess.

set the memory ratio to 400mhz, htt to 266mhz, cpu multi to 10x
that'll give 2660mhz, and cpu/5 for 532mhz

that's probably the easiest.
