OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) Dual Channel Platinum System Memory

These OCZ and Mushkin CAS 2-3-2 1GB sticks are hit-or-miss on overclocking. As both companies will tell you, they were designed for low latency, not high overclocks. If you want to get to 240+ I'd recommend going with their other kits.

Having said that, I have a pair of the 1GB OCZ Platinum sticks and like them. Mine will only do 220MHz at CAS 2.5-3-2-7. Nothing over 220 will work, no matter the timings. I run mine at 218MHz with a 9/10 memory divider. My CPU is at 240MHz.

These threads should help you decide what's best for you...

They have official OCZ reps answering questions, although I wish I could hit the 230MHz RyderOCZ can get on his 2GB kit. (he uses a different BIOS I might try out)

The mushkin blue 2gb is very well priced... and OC very well... like to 275 3-3-3-8 and 2.5-3-3-7 @ 250 or so speeds... the same chips are in my corsair 2gb kit they oc well... folks around here seem to like the ballistix for max OC... like 300mhz and stuff... they're a bit more $ but they go the distance. :)

could i get a link to the muskin cause i only found the white set and the silver ones

I have this ram..

It does 200MHz (DDR400) At Cas 2-3-2-5-1T with Hella tight other timings like Row to row, Write Delay, etc all at 1 cycle too... So its wicked tight ram.

I can get it to 218MHz (DDR436) Same timings @ 2.9v

Max Speed is 228MHz (DDR454) Cas 2.5-3-3-6-1T @ 3.0v

So given the specs in your sig, are you running 5:6 or 1:1 on the mem div?

gunstrife, get the 2x1gig sticks of crucial. the value stuff. its cheaper, and usually does 240-250 3-3-3-8 with 2.8v. its good stuff.

the Mushkin blue and corsair I have do those timings also... mine pulled 2-3-2-6 1t @ 2.6v up until 220mhz... then 2-3-3-6 up to 235mhz, then had to go cas2.5.... I think that's about as tight as it gets for a 2gb kit at those speeds, I think. :) this review, although it is AMDzone, (*cough*) was pretty much right on the spot, except for their review of the crucial ballistix, which was way off... I think.. anyways, the rest is about right,

EDIT: re-reading that review here... er... hrm.. not sure about the OCZ bit.. but I think that's not the same type which this topic was on... :)

thanks alot guys, these are sounding like some sick sticks with great timings and I guess the oc of the sticks all depends on luck so considering I can get the 2gb kit for $230 would you not say that would be a good way to go and I dont mind a divder too much as long as timings are tight as possible and my fsb as high as my cpu can handle

gt crucial value, the new mushkin stuff is sucking alot and so is the OCZ stuff. infenion change there die process, and now they dont oc as well. crucial on the other hand, ocs great, is cheaper, and you know what chips/results your gonna get.

I'll back this up. I could only get to 212 at 2-3-2-6-1T. I could take 2-3-3-6-1T to 215, but then I had to go to 2.5 up to 221, then 3 up to 225 and that was it. Get the Crucial.

K so it would be safe to say that higher speeds are better then tight timings, I'm lookin for better game preformance of course

alright. by rule of thumb tccd at ddr600 = utt at ddr500. so its like a 6:5 scale. with 2gigs it wont be a big deal, as with that much, you dont need tight timings. i can tell you that 220 2-3-2 will be equalish to 250 3-3-3, and 250 3-3-3 is alot more common then 220 2-3-2.
