VR is getting more exciting as more and more content comes to market, but what many have been interested in also is better HMD hardware. Yesterday Oculus pushed out its new Dev Kit 2 with many upgrades. You can read about it all here. Looks like HMDs that can do roomscale VR gameplay are going to be getting less expensive as expected. Today, we’re excited to announce the open source release of Rift Development Kit 2 (DK2). Our progress since the release of DK1 has been thanks in no small part to this community working tirelessly alongside us. We’re doing this both to preserve and share what we learned about VR in the early days, and to let anyone use the design in their own projects.
