OC'ing a 900mhz Duron

IS it possible to Overclock a 900mhz duron to 1ghz? If so how would i go about doing this?
 
Back when I had a duron, I overclocked it to 1.1 GHZ ( i think i had the 900 MHZ) model, this was a couple years back. I did it by upping the FXB to 133, and pencil-tricking the L1 bridges to unlock the multipliers.

Know of any good guides? I know i cant do this through the bios it has.
 
Guides to OC not in BIOS? for the pencil trick, grab a magnifying glass, and pencil over the laser-sliced L1s.

I don't know about OC w/o bios, you'll need to read up on motherboard specific stuff for that i guess

wow, they call the FSB the FPU and the AGP slot the APG slot.. and theyre doing the L1 bridge mod...

you have to pop it back in and set the multiplier in teh BIOS. if your BIOS doesnt have that option, you still have one otehr option, but it involves cutting and reconnecting L2 and L3 bridges to set the FSB and multi from the chip itself. i wouldnt suggest it, you can hose your chip like that.

Are there any apps thancan change the multiplier form within th eos, i csn't change it in the bios.
 
no. not without BIOS support for it. if you are trying to overclock an OEM machine, forget about it. it cant be done without some heavy modification to that processor.

yup. typically, alot of athlons were unlocked from the factory, but the ones that arent (later bartons, some thunderbirds, and some tbreds... not sure about palominos..) can be unlocked via the L1 mod.

heres a guide to changing multipliers by bridges on tbreds and bartons (models 8 and 10) im not sure if the same thing applies for tbirds (which is what your duron is)

if you want a bit more performance, you can unlock the extra cache that is on that chip by doing the L2 bridge mod. if you look at the L2 bridges on the Duron, you will see one that is not closed (theres a line between two points) do said pencil mod on that bridge and you should boot up with 256k cache instead of 64k. if it doesnt boot or is unstable, just erase the pencil to set it back to normal - not all mods work, so do this at your own risk.

The Duron 900 was a Spitfire core not a Thunderbird. I thought that the L2 bridge mod was for the Applebred (1.6 & 1.8) Durons?

it was for palo's and tbirds too, i modded my mobile duron to a mobile athlon4 that way

forgot about the spitfires - i dunno what you can do with those...
