ocing a 2600 mobile

hey guys. i was wondering how high i could get my 2600+m amd. i have water cooling. but unfortuantly i have pc2100 ram...i will be getting pc3200 shorty. how high do you think i could get it with the pc3200. thanks guys

you have a mobile.. change the multi and get high ghz now...

try for about 2.2, 2.4 right now.. i don't see a problem.. 133 x 20 .. i think you can do that.. some boards don't like anything over 12.5 though.. i forgot...

or... run the ram at half speed.. and do something like 110 ram 220 cpu.. it sounds crazy, but this is temporary until you get better ram...

i would just start playing around with it though.. you should be able to do 2.4ghz and probably more...


edit again... you are at 2.5ghz already... why do you think better ram will affect your cpu speed? i would really say the two things are independant of each other... why do you think better ram will increase your cpu ghz? just see how high you can get the cpu with 2v.. or even 2.1 if you are crazy, you do have WC, so it shouldn't be terribly dangerous to run high voltages..

Better ram allows for a higher FSB.... thus a higher OC.

his multi is unlocked... he can hit the same ghz at 100 x 20 or 200 x 10...faster memory will increase memory bandwidth and make the whole computer faster and is just as important if not more than making the cpu run at a high clock speed.. but it isn't necessary to make an ulocked cpu run at a high clock speed...
