OCing 2500xp barton

I have a Abit NF7 v2.0 and a amd xp barton 2500,


I am going to try to get the barton to 2.3ghz or 2.4ghz..

I am looking into getting either

either that or I am thinking of trying to get a water cooling kit... Would those heatsinks and a fan on top keep the processor coool enough to OC? if you have better heatsinks drop me a line!

I have a 2400+ running at 2300 (200 x 11.5 @ 1.85v) with temps about 46C on load (25C is system temp). I just installed the thermalright SI-97 and love it. It is kind of loud because of my thermaltake 90mm fan (3500 rpm), but it gets the job done. I am sure there are better more quite fans on the market.

Why don't you get a Mobile AthlonXP 2500+ You're pretty much guaranteed at least 2.4ghz and they run cooler due to lower voltage requirements.


Mine runs at almost 2.8 all day long and stays cool with my SLK900a

I don't want to spend money on a processor:-p I'm workin with what I have, how cool do you think I can keep the CPU with the sp-97 and a fan?

Well it depends on the voltage you have to run the proc at to get those speeds, how well your case cooling and venting are etc. I run a Antec Super Lanboy with 120 mm intake, 120 mm out, and the SI-97 and get decent cooling. I try to keep my proc load temps below 50C.
