OC'in E6600 - Huh?

ok, what NB and SB volts are you using? i think its properably ure cpu if memtest ran fine.
 
Why not run your memory in sync with your Processor so there is no delay in communication?

Also 2.4v fries memory.
 
yeah, but you need dedicated fan to actively cool DDR2 ram running @2.2v or above... otherwise it'll overheat and die, at least that's what I hear around
 
NVIDIA has investigated end user reports of high performance DIMM failures on the NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI-based platforms. During this process we have been in close contact with DIMM manufacturers and the DRAM manufacturers they rely on to understand the failure scenario. By working with our community, we believe that the observed failure is a breakdown of the silicon in the DRAM caused by the prolonged application of 2.4V on the voltage rails of the DIMMs.

NVIDIA’s own internal testing has observed this failure on multiple motherboards using different chipsets (both NVIDIA and non-NVIDIA chipsets). This issue is not directly related to motherboards using the NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI MCP or other chipsets.

If you are using this type of memory and are experiencing this issue, NVIDIA recommends contacting your memory manufacturer or system manufacturer for additional information and warranty information.

The chips aren't designed for the high speeds and volts. DDR 2 is 1.8v stock, its companies like corsair, buffalo, OCZ, etc that overclock and up the volts to get it stable then make you pay the premium for them.

Also look at all the modules they offer, they max out at 667 and 1.8v.
 
Note that 2.4v will also void your warranty (not entirly sure they can tell what your vDimm was at anyway though)

MajorGN - I'd suggest dropping your VCore back down now that you've pretty much isolated the Ram as the problem. 1.375v is really high for just 2.7ghz, and I'm pretty sure you can get away with just a tad over stock volts at 2.7ghz. You might want to try setting the volts to Auto, and then little by little lower it manually yourself till you find a good voltage and stay stable. Over volting without over clocking just generates heat with no benefit.

Whatever advice you decide to take just remember to ignore this advice. Setting cpu voltage to AUTO should always be avoided. Many motherboards add way too much voltage on this setting when overclocking. They try to help you out a little too much.

Intel rates these processors to over 1.50 volts so as long as you are keeping track of the heat with CoreTemp 0.95 you won't ever have a problem with the present voltage you are using.

Intel rates most C2D cpus to 85C and rates the E4300 to 100C. During testing I found great 24/7 stability as long as the temps were no higher than 70C to 72C. You'll lose stability before you ever hurt a C2D.

Mine doesn't, AUTO keeps cpu at VID vcore (Asus p5w)...

my C2 went to 3.2ghz oin stock volts, after that i've gone to 1.45 and its still not stable in orthos at 3.34 :(
 
:O. myns 1.375 stock as far as i know :( or thats what it took in the bios, going to 3.4ghz its boots windows, and is rock solid in games and 3dmark 06, but in orthos or 3dmark 05 it dies :(. So i've tried upto 1.45v so far still not stable.
