so today i thought id see what this 920 had in it, kept the stock volts the motherboard gave it, which was 1.28v, everything else is right, memory dividers are auto and were only pushing my 1600 ram to 1333 when i hit 3.3ghz, but when i started games the graphics freaked out and were going weird colors and flashing etc..

this is only when i start a game too, not when im on the desktop messing with stuff.

i cleared CMOS and put everything back to stock now its fine again, i dont wanna blow it up or anything lol, is this caused from not enough CPU voltage or something else i dont know about ?

your not the only one thats been having issues.. which games is this happening on?

while your at it make sure you have the pci-e bus locked at 100mhz and not on auto..

its happening on all games, im wondering the overclock somehow messes with SLI otherwise i dont see how it would only mess with the graphics...

and yes the pci is locked at 100.

yeah there was another guy with the same problem with his i7 and running dual cards while overclocking.. with the overclock it was working perfectly fine but with dual cards he was getting weird artifacts.. i have no clue if its a glitch in the nvidia chipset or what..

I'm the other guy with this issue.

Which operating system are you using? I have a theory, which I'll share after you let me know.

Also, which video card and drivers?

Is your overclock prime stable? I would run a CPU test really quick to make sure your OC is 100% stable at that voltage. I would also run memtest just in case to make sure it's not your RAM either. Being able to boot into Windows doesn't guarantee stability. Just a couple thoughts.

I haven't run SLI in any of my computers but maybe the SLI is taking a toll on your 12v rails? requiring slightly more power to the CPU to compensate. You could also try some hardware monitoring software to see how the voltage in BIOS differs from the voltage actually getting to CPU. Check power supply brand/reliability - perhaps it's not as efficient as it should be?

my computer is 100% orthos stable running 4 instances, its not my ram either ive given the sticks several passes of memtest, also my power supply is defo up to the task.

im using vista x64 ultimate and the latest nvidia drivers i think its 182.50 or something ?

i didnt try without SLI enabled i was too scared i was damaging something i just put it back to stock, its not artifacts as in snowy effects or anything to tell me its the graphics cards going bad, its just things flashing and going weird colors, maybe its something to do with SLI on a x58 not playing nicely with an overclock ? i dont know...

Shoot, your problem is different than mine. I was having artifacts in Crysis and Crysis Warhead. The artifacts would only appear when SLI was enabled.

I managed to resolve my issues by upgrading to Vista. Probably more of a band-aid solution, but I'm happy it's resolved none-the-less.

Try disabling your SLI and see if that resolves the issue.

it was something to do with SLI, tryed overclocking again but with SLI turned off, then once i got back into windows turned it back on and voila.....

in my shitty lian li midtower with poo 80mm fans and 4 instances of orthos its loading at about 66 degrees @ 3.33ghz w/ 1.216v in cpu-z so far. dont wanna push the voltage over 1.25 so i'll see how much further i get.
