Does anyone use OCCT to determine OC stability, is it in the same as furmark in that it overly taxes the GPU above what any game would.

I never go above 68c on the VRM doing anything but I thought i'd give OCCT a try as it checks for errors that I may miss or errors that cannot be seen. But the VRM temps are crazy.

Is the best way to determine stability to just play a game for an extended period or run 3dmark for an extended period.

Any insight would appreciated.

I usually use GPU-Z to check my VRM temps. To stress them out, I use heaven, or BF3 (actually game).

108/98 is way too high. Also there is no game that stress's the GPU like Furmark does. It is basically overkill IMO if you ask me.

Cheers, I was using heaven to check for stability aswell and my vrm temps never went over 68 after 15 minutes, but just 3 minutes in OCCT and my VRM rose to 108c 98c.

I've never touched furmark as I've read it over taxes the gpu that no game would. I didn't know OCCT was the same but hey we all gotta learn some way.

How long do you run heaven for to test an OC. Ive been playing Far Cry 3 with my OC and no problems after about 4 hours constant playing. So I guess that would be sufficient.

yea farcry 3 is a VERY gpu intesive game. It's a good test, specially 4 hours.

I usually leave heaven going for 2-3 hours....if temps are fine etc, then to me you are ok.
