OC vs longetivity question....

Hey guys, I have an XP 2500+ oc'ed to 3200+ speeds. It's on stock voltage and the temps have only risen 1-2C on average. Does this mean that the lifespan of my processor won't deteriorate that much too?
 
itll last much longer than its useful live, especially if you havent raised voltage.
 
cpu will last longer then you will use it for esp if you are planning on getting a new system in one or two years, even at like 1.7v axp's typically warn you when there about to go by starting to lose its oc, at that point you return it to stock and its cool
 
Even more so because more OCers like replacing their video cards every year or even every 6 months...when they have the money :mad:

no, not really. some 6800 series cards have been crapping out from OC's and voltage increases...

Video cards are much more delicate, cause they have all the power regulation on the board itself... so when you pump too much voltage through the core, it stresses the power regulation and screws up the card... video cards really arent made to handle higher than stock most of the time, exceptions being illistrated in examples like the 9500np... exact same PCB, different BIOS.
 
never hered of 6800s crapping out, i got mine at 1.4v, and i have the (it got real hot) voltage regulator actively cooled, think i have a problem? oh yea the core temp neveer goes above 48C

when that mod was first discovered, i did it too, then a few weeks/months later, people were reporting that their cards were taking a crap and not working anymore, even at stock volts/speeds. its good taht you have tha tpower regulater activly cooled though.

maybe the regulator burnt up, the sink got hot enough that it was verry close to burning me
i put two 50mm fans on it each at 12 cfm... ice cold now, along with the memory :D
