Thanks in advance for the read and any suggestions- and I apologize if this is'nt in the correct forum.
This may be upsetting to some of you since theres such a wealth of info on these boards,which I have been reading for some time now.Please bare with me as I am new to OC.
What I would like is for an experienced overclocker(unlike myself) to recommend some
safe OC settings that will push my rig to about 90% or so of its full OC capablilites.Im not asking for someone to do benching just some experienced recommendations for settings and timings.
I must admit,it ran like a champ right out of the gate at default everything,but in all reviews and forums I have read, I should be able to get much more from this rig and I'd like to do that(get my moneys worth,ya know?),altho I am not looking to push it to its max as that is quite time consuming and advanced and I am not comfortable doing that just yet.
Furthermore there cannot be that much of a difference between a max OC and 90% OC for what I use my PC for.
I dont mind pushing Voltages if needed.If it self destructs upon booting I wont blame u.
I am aware that all rigs will clock different slightly and that finding my components limitations,starting low,benchn,and working my way up is the best plan of attack until I find the sweetspot to maximize my HTT while keeping my ram timings tight.Correct?
I am new at this,but not completely OC ignorant..partially because of these forums.Thanks BTW.These guides pwn and have educated me on alot of topics.Added like 10 to my favs list.
A few other quick questions:
1. Why are my mem timings not 2-3-3-6 or 2.5-3-3-6 as stated here:

Also if u look at the CPUZ mem speed pic at the bottom(speed table) it says in order to achieve 200mhz I need to have timings of 3-3-3-8 and that confuses me.Is someone misrepresenting their product or am I missing something?
2.If thats correct then I have to use looser timings to achieve DDR400(as it is now) or run it as a lower speed to achieve tighter timings?
If thats true its kinda BS if u ask me as it wasn't advertised as so.
Ive tried Auto and SPD BIOS settings and the timings aren't what they are supposed to be according to CPU-Z.
Anyone want to enlighten me here?
3.I've checked Bios and I do not see any C & Q to enable or disable.It is supposed to be off when OC'n correct?
I want my OTES fans on all the time anyway and currently only one comes on every so often.I know they are supposed to only turn on when the sys gets hot and then shut down when it cools.If its doing that(one fan is anyway) then I am assuming C and Q is enabled?
I have Oc Guru,Black Box,Abit EQ latest version I believe.
4.A higher HT Frequency is better,but may need it to be lowered to OC.Is that correct?If so how low is too low?I don't want to negate the performance I am trying to gain.In my BIOS it just says Auto all the time,altho I have settings from 1 thru 5.
I would be pleased if I could get close to 2.5 Ghz and DDR433/ Com Rate 1T with fairly tight timings and judging from what I've read,this seems attainable with my rig.I will be getting some Corsair 3500 Expert ram in a few months,but 3200 was all I could afford at the time and I thought I could run the 3200 at near 3500 speeds anyway..This is solely a gaming system and has no extra peripherals.
