OC refresher for building new system

I haven't built a new machine in over 6 months now and during that time I've been paying less attention to HardOCP news, so I need a bit of a refresher for building my new box. So let me explain what I believe to be accurate about OC and you guys tell me if I'm wrong or have forgotten anything.

XP-120
I will be placing a quiet and not a performance fan on it.

AMD 3000+ 90nm
This is the best value for OC. There's very little reason for getting the 4000+.

Corsair 1GB 4400C25 (2x 512MB)
Even if I don't up having my core all that high because my fan won't be going too fast, I still want to get my FSB as high as possible and just use a lower multiplier. So I should try to get the best memory I can afford. The other components in my system (A8N-SLI, GF6600FT, D-Link WiFi, Chaintech A710 audio card) should not prevent me from reaching a higher FSB as long as I have good enough memory.

So... does that all sound right?
 
Not sure how well the Asus SLI board oc's. Havent seen much info on as far as that goes. Waiting for the MSI version to see how it does myself. But I wouldnt run the Corsair mem. Seems that everyone that I talked with recomended against it due that it doesnt seem to like to oc with the A64 setups. I would like many others recomend the Gskill Pc4400 LE memory. Seems to be the choice ocing on this platform. Its what I use and I like it.

That's subjective, many price/budget fans will always tell you to get a low end chip and OC the heck out of it. Their argument is that you get FX53 performance out of a chip costing $200. True, but there are no guarantees. Meanwhile, the FX53/4000+ people are taking their chips and OCing them to 2.8. Some of the FX55 people are up over 3.2, that's exciting if you are an OCing fan. If you can be happy OCing to an FX53 level knowing you saved money, great.

As to the memory, I agree, Corsair doesn't OC well, as fans are starting to figure this out.
I have Corsair PC3200XLPro, even RMAed my set and tried another, but no luck, can only run at 2336 timings up to 232mz.
What are fans doing? They read the SuperPi contest threads, see what people are using, and buy that. In this case, it's OCZ Platinum Rev 2, and G Skill LE.

If you read the thread "When you fall down you get back up", you'll find 3 people (one is me) who have just purchased G Skill LE memory in an attempt to OC our systems higher.
