I'm just getting into overclocking and I have some basic questions that have been boggling me the past few days.

1. How do you properly set memory controller timing?

2. Why when you overclock certain systems, you lose dual channel?

3. When do you turn up the agp bus, how much is too much?

4. When and how do you know its necessary to up the voltage?

ok i can answer some of this...

You keep upping the FSB and using prime95 to test when your system reaches an unstable point. Once it does you can do a couple things...

1. Turn the FSB back down until its stable
2. Change the CPU/MEM ratio to like 5:4 (but this lowers performance)
3. Up the voltage veryyyy little until you don't get errors in prime95, and of course don't keep raising the voltage till eternity

It's hard to get started, but once you get started you really get the hang of it. Download like 3dmarks01 and mess around with the FSB and the cpu:mem ratio, you'll see that if you have a 1:1 ratio and have your processor at like 3.40, you'll have much better performance than 3.45 with 5:4 ratio...

as for the other questions...someone else is gonna have to answer :p
