I just got a Gigabyte 55A-UD3 Mobo + i7 860.

I want to OC it, at least modestly (aircooled, Hyper 212). What is a realistic OC?

I also want to have power saving.

What power saving features, if any, are available when OCing?

(I have not seriously OCed a CPU since Athlon XP days).

Aim for 3.4 ghz for 24/7 use. I have a 920 and I keep it at 3.6 for daily with all power options on.

you should be able to do 3.6ghz fine.. as far as power savings goes make sure you leave CE1 and speedstep enabled so that the processor downclocks when its sitting idle or light usage.. and make sure your not using dual displays otherwise invest in an ATI card that actually downclocks correctly when multiple monitors are connected..

the i7 860 is pretty easy to overclock.. 3 things you need to deal with is the blk clock, cpu voltage, and the memory clock.. way easier then overclocking an athlon xp processor thats for sure..
