Could I do something fancy on ocing my processor?
how hard could i see it, i got a nice heatsink +fan running at a bit over 5600rpm's and decent cooling 7 other fans
plz help me i dont know any tutorials and its gonna be a first for me ocing

Man you're sure funny. Good post, you're like the epitomy of Newbiness hahahah.

If you had searched before relying on others to do the work for you, you would have searched and found how to overclock socket 754 motherboards. Since your cpu is multiplier locked you can only up your FSB.

the proble is your pci/agp will also increase usually.

so enter your damn bios and raise your fsb in 2mhz increments.

I think, depending on your mobo you'll get up to roughly 215mhz?

i know im funnary D:~ thats why i post buddy!

i dont know any easy to read/understand tutorials... too many in the forum when i searched i got confused

All you do is go into bios and up the FSB. If the computer then proceeds to not start properly, just reset CMOS. Easy as cake!

Not my fault if you kill something though:p.

A64 multiplyer only locked from going up not down......

Probaby wont get much over 220-230 FSB which is what ive had on my K8V SE Deluxe

The guy asks for help in overclocking and the [H] answer is "do a search" or "you're not ready?"

Sorry about those guys and their snobby posts, thiago.

Overclocking really is very simple once you get the hang of it. What brand motherboard do you have?

glad to see your around =)

GIGABYTE
nForce3 150 Chipset
Model GA-K8N PRO

I would help you if I knew more about Athlon 64 CPUs, but like others said, the AGP and PCI slots with Athlon 64 motherboards usually increase with the FSB, and yes, the CPU multiplier is locked. Those two things, combined with the fact that the CPU doesn't overclock well, will make it difficult, but with good cooling, you should be able to get a worthwhile overclock out of that.

Good luck.

Hence the reason for him to read more on the subject before he continues!

gee! let me read the same tutorials and guides you read because im golly gee sure im gonna understand them! gee i wonder why i posted a thread with help on specifically ocing the amd 64 3000+ on my mobo and how, what are some easy to understand tutorials. this isnt a damn flame forum, if your not helping me them stop posting in my damn thread

ugh. why does everyone always have to be such a jackass? I don't know too much about the A64's, but in my experience all i had to do was bump up the fsb (166 to 200) and up the voltage (1.650 (i think) to 1.700) and it was all nice and good.

you will probably find something here:

I was just suggesting you read more on it before you try it
OK here are some articles to read:

Hope this helps.. wasnt wanting to be rude in my last post just trying to get you to check for yourself. I came up with these links from a google search.. and this was only in the first 6 pages

Well, I kept the Multiplier at 10x. But I set the HTT to 230, so now im running at 2300mhz on my AMD Athlon-64 3000+ anything else I could do, I can't seem to increase the HTT anymore with a 10x multiplier should I lower my multiplier? 9.5 x 250 ?

My AMD64 experiance is pretty much nil, but on most other processors this is how it works:

Usually, you lower your multiplier when you RAM/mobo has more headroom than the CPU, for example, say your CPU could only do 2.0 GHz, you might lower your multiplier from 12 down to 10. That way you raise the FSB from 166 to 200. More memory bandwidth, same processor speed. Since your lack of a PCI/AGP lock is probably what's limiting you, it probably wouldn't do any good to lower the multiplier, as the CPU is not what is limiting you. It wouldn't hurt to try, though.
Try posting in the strictly AMD forum. You'll get more people that know AMD's there. Good luck! By the way, a 2300 MHz AMD 64 is not a bad machine. ;)

:) I'm happy with my 300mhz increase, I'm just not sure if I got it the right way
