I recently started to play HALF LIFE 2. I also just recently got a 9600xt AIW. I was just wondering can I oc this baby any better to play Half Life 2? I got the Rivia Tuner New Year Edition install and don't know how to use it yet. Please help this noobie out. Any input or comment is welcome. Thank you.

HL2 is a cpu intensive game, not a gpu intensive game... So, OC your cpu more.

that sux. I've already try to OC my cpu but the mobo wouldn't lemme.

Why wont it let you? Gimme some specs, details and I'll see if I can help you out.

BTW to OC your gpu goto www.guru3d.com and download rivatuner and install it, it also has a cool little winxp refresh override (winxp sets your refresh to 60hz automatically) so you can get as many fps as your monitor can put out at the resolution you use.

To OC your gpu just save your default core/mem speed in rivatuner (so you can set it back later, infact it'd be a good idea to set your default as being your startup value until you get a good normal OC you know wont freeze on bootup) and increase the core/memory about 20 mhz at a time and then after each time run 3dmark03 and see if you have any artifacts and finally when you get some artifacts (miscolors or bad triangles on the screen) don't freak out, they're normal for OCers, just bump the core and memory down to your last good level and run 3dmark03 for about an hour and then 3 hours and see if your OC will be stable for that long. After that set it as your default OC in rivatuner (what it starts up at) and good game you just OCed :).
