OC Instability After SSD Upgrade

I'm beginning to scratch my head on this one. I've got a SB 2500K on a Gigabyte P67a-UD4-B3 motherboard clocked at 4.3GHz. Prior to installing an SSD my system has been stable at this speed for over a year. Around three weeks ago I upgraded to a Corsair Force GT 120GB SSD as my C:. I rolled CPU back to stock, installed Windows fresh along with all drivers and programs. This all went relatively smooth until I reapplied my OC. I recorded all settings I had in bios prior to the reset and reapplied them exactly. However I now have random BSOD with an 0x124 code. I've increased and decreased vcore between 1.25 - 1.34 without any improvement. Previously auto voltage settings were fine. My pre-SSD 24/7 OC was actually less than the auto set voltage, ~1.28v. Speedstep was enabled too.

My question is, could the increased data throughput of an SSD stress the cpu differently than my old HDD was? I tend to blue screen when the PC is doing light work. I've yet to drop my OC. Checkng in with the community before I over think this.
 
Could be the SSD, try checking for firmware updates and running without OC for a week.

SSD came flashed with latest. I've backed my OC down to 4.2 and if that crashes I'll investigate running stock as you suggested.

Still seems strange. I could also put my old spinner back in here and check my sanity.
 
The "old spinner" has proven itself stable, no reason to put it in again. Your platform did not have any problems before and should not have again.

That SSD uses the SF-2281 which is known as a random BSOD generator. Some people have no problems while others get constant BSOD's.

I have a colleague who bought an SSD with the same controller, worked perfectly for a week, then started giving three BSOD's a day. He updated the SSD FW and the intel AHCI drivers and all problems disappeared for a couple of days, but then it started giving him a BSOD or two every day.
He ended up returning it and buying one with a more stable controller.
 
I immediately suspect any SandForce SSD when a computer starts BSODing. Especially when the previous hard drive was perfectly stable. If you can try another SSD that doesn't use SandForce (Samsung 830 or Crucial M4) that would be helpful.
 
Searching the blue screen code 0x00000124 led me to believe it was OC related. I'd like to give this SSD a fair shot at stock speeds before I return it.
 
If the bugcheck code is always 0x124 I highly doubt it's the CPU. Usually unstable CPU/RAM causes a wide variety of bugcheck codes. Unstable CPUs also tend to just lock up / reboot before windows even gets a chance to bluescreen.

Did you try swapping the SATA cable?

I didn't spend any time on that machine yesterday, but I'll be sure to follow up on this. I appreciate everyone's feedback.

It is absolutely a hardware code. Most sites claim it is CPU (cache) or RAM. I would double check the RAM timings and voltage for starters. Maybe it came loose or the contacts on it need cleaned. I had that error on a machine for months and replacing the RAM finally stopped it.
 
4.2 hasn't given me any trouble. This is very unusual.

The only thing I changed was installing an SSD. However is an SSD worth 100MHz? You bet it is!
 
Guess you have been close to the stability limit and some property of the SSD pushed it into BSOD.
 
So are you stable at stock settings?

I'm stable at stock and stable at 4.2

Prior, my 2500k overclocked like so:

4.3 at ~1.3V (was rock solid for nearly1.5 years, until I put an SSD in this machine)
4.4 at ~1.4V (would randomly crash, gave up trying to make stable)
4.5 at >1.4V (threw more voltage than I was comfortable and still couldn't reliably boot the machine or run apps)
