So, the system is in the sig...
Here's the problem...first, is the RAM...CPU-Z is telling me it's running @ 562Mhz. Does that seem low to anyone?

Next, how the hell do I OC this thing?? What do i do first? I'd like the RAM to run at 1ghz, I have to believe it'll do that!! And I'd like to get a nice, stable 3.8ghz out of the CPU.

I'm such a NOOOOB!!! LOL

HELP!!!

http://www1.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=24_311_312_611&item_id=023348
That's my RAM.

Thanks!!

sr-ram 133mgz = real world speed 133mgz
ddr-sdram 266mgz = real world speed 133mgz
ddr2-sdram 533mgz = real world speed 133mgz
ddr3-sdram 1066mgz = real world speed 133mgz

The numbers are invented seeing as bigger number sell better but the internal speed of he ram in question in all the examples given are the same only how they interact with the
external bus and north-bridge chip-set changes along with a feu others things.....
As for over clocking the ram imho its not worth it really better off just overclocking your cpu .
The best ram out their vs decent ram in benchmarks = 5% performance difference at
best in a real world app.
Long story short when tweaking your ram your trading system stability vs performance more often then not up to a point and for that extra 2% performance my self i don't go their often.
your cpu info is here
http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_i7/Intel-Core%20i7-960%20AT80601002727AA%20%28BX80601960%20-%20BXC80601960%29.html

Seeing as your new to this topic your best bet if just to read read read and learn about the topic .
80% of overclocking is research not just changing numbers in your bios.
Anyone can do that .

Keep in mind as well on newer mobos theirs many settings in their
that can kill your computer dead .read read read before changing anything in their or
your computer will end up dead

and remember don't over volt like a mad man and watch your temps.
max temp for your cpu is 67.9c
max voltage is 1.375v

Raise the speed on your cpu a little bit at a time then use burn in software to make shore its stable each time .
If the computer becomes unstable that's ok raise your core volts just a little bit to fix that.

As the cpu runs faster it needs more gas to run at that speed meaning more volts .
Bring the speed up on your cpu 100mgz each time then use the burn in software to test it
for at lest 10 min each time.

only thing more volts douse is give the cpu more gas to run off of .
But at the same time it rises the heat from the cpu and if you send too much at it it can
fry the cpu .
as you do all this testing you might find you have to whack the reset button a lot .
Keep in mind when doing this kind of thing it can trash the data on your hdd.
safer bet is to use a clean install on a old hdd you don't care about that way if all hell
brakes lose who cares just reinstall .
and remember theirs two kinds of overclocking

Safe way as i like to call it and is what i recommend you do seeing as your new to this
topic is reverse engineering.
This kind of tweaking means you all ways do it by the numbers and don't go past what is
recommended by the original manufacturer of the hardware in question.
if the fastest your cpu core was ever sold at is 3333mgz then that's your limit .
Don't go past it by more then +5% meaning 3600mgz

unsafe way is pushing the numbers in to the unknown.
imho don't go their .
Your not ready.

as well seeing as your new to the topic i would recommend you keep everything in your bios at factory defaults and only play around with the fsb and vcore and you should be ok.

anyways theirs lots of how to glides out their .go find some and read up ;)

Wow...Thanks for all the input.

Ok, so leave the RAM alone. Got it.

I was hoping for my CPU not to top 55-58c. That will ensure longer life.

Thanks again.
