Alright...I've just about given up on this, but I need some help learnin how to oc or atleast getting it oced...

I have:
A8N-SLI Deluxe
3500+ Venice
Zalman 7700 Cu w/ ceramique
Mushkin PC3200 2-2-2-5 TCCD ram
Leadtek 6600GT TDH Extreme

Currently, all of the settings are untouched from when i installed:
Mem = 2.6v
PCI-E = 3.33v
CPU = 1.385v (200x11)

I tried messin around with some of the settings, but i don't understand alot of the stuff with the fsb and voltages (prolly most of the idea behind oc :p ) and i ended up freezin the system thousands of times (which prolly ain't good for it)

anybody have any tips/death threats?

btw, i have already checked alot of your tutorials...it's just that it escapes me (ie - i'm stupid)

btw, does any1 know what happened to the 'new products' link on newegg? the closest i can get to it is this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...ategory=48&SubCategory=505&MFGRef=-1&MFGPART=

do this,
drop your HTT link to 4x
clock your ddr to ddr333
raise cpu voltage a setting or 2 (if on stock HSF skip this step)
drop your multi to 10
set your fsb to 250

that will get you 2.5GHz on your cpu, your FSB will be 1000 and you will still have ddr400 speed ram ;)
be sure to check for stability etc and play around with your multi and fsb speeds till u get a setting you like

I ran some prime95 after that booted....

no probs with 4m or 16m...

so then hit IE to tell you about what i got before i went to bed....

and it crashed :D

Have you tried reading Eclipse's overclocking guide? I'm new to the scene as well, but his guide has been EXTREMELY helpful.

instability itself isn't bad for the hardware, just don't let anything get too hot, and don't go crazy with the voltage.

A kid in my dorm recommended the same thing, except:
cpu voltage from 1.385 to 1.450
and raise ram to ddr500 and do 3-3-3-8

^i just feel there is a problem with that advice...but i dono...

btw, i have a zalman 7700cu, not a stock cooler....

brb....gonna go try what was originally suggested with higher voltages...

also, if i remember correctly, this ram is supposed to run at 2.7v, and it's set at 2.6 with auto....should i change it?

Drop your HTT mult to 2x, not 4x. And dont listen to the tard that said go straight to ddr500. Go in 10-20mhz increments, not 50.

I actually had some1 else recommend doin a 3x htt, sayin that 4x is what made my system unstable. I've never heard that anywhere else yet, but what kinda ram settings would i throw with that?

btw eclipse, i'm still workin through your method....i'm about halfway through :p

just keep the HT link speed under 1000mhz and you're good. most newer boards can go past 1200mhz, but that's another story, and you can test it on your own time. it won't effect performance at all, so i don't bother :D

good luck with the oc'ing ;)
