I have been working on a oc for my e6750 however i feel that im producing temps that are higher than to be expected. I have it set at 3.2ghz with a voltage of 1.35. When running prime 95 i am getting load temps of 63 degrees C. It seems to me that they should be lower then this. I am using a XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 w/ AS5 for cooling and i have re set my heat sink twice now but temps do not seem to lower. Any ideas?

First of all, what software are you using to read temps? Get CoreTemp and install it, then go into the options and check the box that says something along the lines of "show remaining delta to tjmax". That will give you an accurate picture of what you are really getting temp wise. If you are 20c or more AWAY from tjmax, you are good to go. If you have a good cooler and the unit is seated properly, then your chip should be ok. Give us a bit more info as to what software....

The C2D's are somewhat sketchy as the on die sensor does not translate well to actual temp. You are better served by letting CoreTemp tell you how far away you ar form the point at which your cpu will start to throttle. For example, my E6750 at 3200 with 1.32v or so, under heavy loads, reports 51c DELTA to max temp, that is very good, using a ThermalTake Big Typhoon.

I use speedfan 4.33 and coretemp 0.97 at the same time when monitoring temps. Speedfan shows core 0 and 1 around 63-63 degrees C and coretemp is showing 43c to T-junction max at load running 2 instances for prime 95.

Dude, 43c from tjmax is great. Your cpu is running great as far as temps....nothing to worry about. Crank it a bit more....? I want to crank mine a bit more, but my board does not have another ram divider available and my ram, while decent, does not overclock well. I need some DDR2 1066 to realize my cpu's potential...but alas, at 3200 it runs way cool since my voltage is almost stock.

Well that is good news to hear, after making my prior post i decided to re seat my hsf once again b/c i was not happy with the temps i was getting at that voltage and fsb. After re seating it for the third time i noticed and 5 degree decrease in temps. Core 0 and 1 temps went from 63C to 57-58C which makes me happy. I am not sure how i could have messed up the first 2 AS5 applications but i believe i got it right this time. Now i just got to get it to run 24hr prime stable and ill be a happy camper.
Thanks for your feedback TheRapture
