Is it possible to OC an eMachine?

I would like to try it on my back-up before I try it on my primary.

The Back-up has a Trigem Imperial MoBo and an Intel Celaron at 1.8 Ghz....

Not sure about that particular m/b, but hit the delete key a few times right after you hit the power button. This should take you into the bios. If you don't know what you're doing don't change anything yet. When you read this give me a post on how familiar you are with your puter's bios. We'll go from there.

trigems generally don't have any such options. You'll have to try something like cpufsb or softfsb.

Well, I got into advanced bios once before...turned out being F11

moved the multiplier up to 10 once and hoped that nothing would go wrong, it seemed faster, but cpu-z said that the total hadn't changed, it was still a little under 1.8 Ghz total, so I dunno if I actaully did anything or not...

Downloaded both of those just now, only cpufsb had trigem, but it had cognac, not Imperial, so that's a problem..

the real question is
WHY!??????
heheh
it's a emachine for the love of god and all that is holy
hehe
but best of luck to you

well, why not?
I know it's been done before, but they were the older ones...
Anyway, I do a lot of video editing, and need some power...2.1 isn't enough!, lol

Intel cpu's are multiplier locked. Try raising the FSB (Front Side Bus) Start by upping it by the smallest increment it allows and reboot. If that is sucessful, up it again and reboot. Keep going and let uss know what you end up with.

well, checked bios, couldn't do anything with the FSB there, I don't know how to find the PLL, so I'm not sure there, and when I tried CPUFSB with just Trigem, my computer froze, so I dunno what to do...I deserve being a newbie...

oh boy, I'd rather not get into that stuff yet...ok, maybe I'll have more luck with the AMD model, W2875 with FIC mobo

Edit: the processor is a Athlon XP 2700+ @ 2.1 Ghz
