Hello all,

I'm having a problem I have not seen anyone else appearing to have. Gonna post here, hope not to get flamed, and see if someone else in fact has had this problem.

First my rig: Amd athlon x2 3800 ( no oc'ing on anything), geforce xfx 7800 gtx, 2 gig corsair xms cl 2 memory, wd 10k sata hd, sb audigy zs2 plat, x64 OS.

Second the problem: The game starts stuttering, lagging whatever you want to call it, soon as the opening bethesda screen comes up, sometimes even locks up and then crashes. Guys I have tried it on the lowest possible settings to the highest. I have tried downloading the 64 bit patches and what not. I have tried all the tweaks from all the online guides. I even went as far to format my HD and load 32 bit windows xp. I was so furious that the same system that can play fear on max, while two boxing WoW, and burning a CD couldn't run one game w/o lagging. I know the demands on the game are high, but I ruled that out after putting all setting to minimal. Lol I haven't even created a real character on there I'm so mad. I did make one to mess around with to see if it was like that during the movies and the actual gameplay and it is. If anyone has any other suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. I mean I just dropped about 2 grand into this brand new cpu and i don't even use it anymore because I get pissed everytime I sit down at the keyboard, knowing it won't run this game. Again please any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Drivers? Dual core fix? Clean of spyware/adware/malware? There are too many variables. Try eliminating some.
Good luck :)

Lol i was just thinking that. But yes. I have tried 32. I have tried beta drivers, new drivers, old drivers, and fresh format so no wares of anysort. Some other games do the same thing like an occassional hickup and it will crash it. But like I said I can play fear, doom3 all there very very demanding games on full. And I can't even run oblivion on low. I just had a new experience with the game though. At character creation it sticks for a second, and then the character starts having like white patches and black patches all over there face and weird shapes and patterns come and go. Very weird. Thanks for any help again.

Temps are running pretty normal. 35-40. I think it might be the graphics card is not performing properly. Is there any way I can test the graphics card. Or any other suggestions now knowing the temps? Thanks.

Do you have any codec packs installed, like the klite pack, or the ace pack etc ? Some of them are known to cause similar issues in the game.

Also, the game's sound engine throws a hissy fit with some sound cards, you could try disabling all the sounds in the ini (the proper ini is in your my documents folder, in the my games folder), especially setting bMusicEnabled=0.

Hopefully when they patch the game a lot of the PC issues will be taken care of. I can't help but feel sorry for you, with such a PC you should truly have no issues whatsoever, blame bethesda :\
