O-Ring vs Teflon Tape, NPTF threads

Of course the best thing do to would be use both. I'm not sure if that will be possible because after applying the teflon, the adapter may not screw completely in. I'm using quick connect adapters with NPTF threads.

In your opinion, is teflon tape necessary for NPTF threads?
 
yes, because it's tapered. It's not supposed to screw all the way in. Just apply the teflon tape correctly and you wont have any problems.
