I'm planning on raid 0ing my two 80gb drives together as a game drive, but I have many problems with the nv ide driver (system hangs on boot, slower access time, etc..) Is there anyway I can setup a raid array without the nv drivers install (or with ms drivers)?

In terms of needing to install a driver for Windows, or in terms of the software-based drivers where the RAID is in software? If it's the first, that doesn't make any sense - one needs to install drivers for even a simple ich5 single-disk setup. Sata is still newer than the latest Windows version by a few years, you're going to need drivers for most sata controllers.DougLite said:Added driver complexity is one of my biggest knocks on RAID-0
If it's the second, though, I definitely agree. It's not just that you're trusting your data to some software company somewhere (did they make sure to check all the edge cases?), but you're locked into them. If your card breaks, you need another card of the same type. If everyone would standardize on a disk format for drives in raid, happiness would ensue. This is why I use Linux software raid. I can move my array onto any card and any Linux machine anywhere, and have it autodetected and working in minutes.
