has anyone seen any benchie or know how do the two compare in terms of CPU usage and perfomance?

I would avoid matrix raid, the performance is not going to be all that spectactular, and it doesn't really compare to raid 5 in my opinion, also it's proprietary format so if something does go wrong and you can't get ahold of an intel card that handles it, you're out of luck anyway.:
