I don't know, but nVIDIA is doing one hell of great job in the advertising/marketing department:

The DAWN, DUSK, and the new NALU character and their campaign is just great.

ATi need to follow suite.

hahah yeah, i talk to this one asian kid at school and he like beats off to those fucking cartoon asian people. i laugh when hes like oh she is soo fine and looking up anime porn on the net. by the way hes not my friend. yes, nvidia is doing a hell of a good job in marketing espically in todays games but they are reaching far in thier pockets when they have an intro with nvidia logos covering the screen. example : UT2k4 when the moneter breaks the nvidia sign
 
No because their very complex characters that display a lot of the features of the card. Plus the majority of their market would rather look at nicely rendered women than charts and dungeons.

When you hack it to make it work on ATI cards, it runs faster.

From all accounts, NVIDIA's LAN party was awesome. All 100 people from the engineering department attended, and NVIDIA gave away 6800U's to all the winners of the tourneys. Free food, parking, prizes, nice event.

That's not tits and beer.

Yeah, that WAS pretty good. I would have gone if it wasn't on tuesday. A few of the people from the clan I'm in went there, one came back with a Dream Machine...well, not the actual machine but he won one and it's comming soon...and all the others came back with assloads of freebies.

That said.... I don't get a hard on for Dawn or the mermaid, but I do appreciate the aesthetic beauty presented.

I like seeing human / human-like characters rendered realistically. But if I had to choose, I'd pick a female form over a male form to be rendered every time. The female form is full of curves and softness.... it's just so much more interesting to look at.

I look at it more as "art gallery" where you're looking at it more like "hustler centerfold"

Sorry but he's partly right(about some asian kids) the last lan I went to had 32 people, every single asian one would watch naruto or love hina during downtime. I really don't know what the hell is so fascinating about it but they just watch it like crazy

I dunno, when I see those things, I see it as a cheesy way of getting guys all excited in one way or another.

You know what demo puts all those to shame? The Unreal3 Engine demo. That video really shows off what a card is capable of. I don't care if that looks all realistic or if this looks realistic, that demo will never be in a game or anything like that.

The Unreal3 demo showed us what is comming, it showed examples of what the new technology does, and it wasn't stagnant like a fairy with a cute smirk or a mermaid floating in an aqua background.

Dawn/Dusk/Mermaid = eh :/

Unreal3 = OMG I WANT IT NOW!

I watch anime during non-gaming sessions at LANs as well. Actually, in my local area, the main LANs were created primarily for the purposes of sharing anime files..... gaming being secondary.

It's better than wasting time watching lame-ass flash animations that are supposed to be funny, or listening to yet another shitty ass mp3 remix that the console dorks think are cool, or taping the little guy to the wall with duct tape...

Sorry but I have to agree somewhat. When it comes down to it, what's more appealing, a furry chimp or a pretty fairy? Fairy wins every time. Did it make me buy Nvidia this time around? No, look at my sig. But if I were to show off my card with a tech demo to a friend, guess which one I'm going to fire up?
 
Ya a few of the people i work with went there, one of them came back with a 6800U, well...it's being shipped, just like the machines.

I dunno, Nvidia has a good track record with the BS, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it back again in full force to make ATI look bad.
I mean, look at the 3dMark scores. They had that pic with a 14000+ score, but most people are getting 12000.

Futuremark approved the drivers too. Also, I think the 14000 score was leaked, and not put out by nvidia. Might be wrong tho.

i dunno, those demos WILL eventually be in games. I remember looking at those old 3dmark demos and thinking (wow it would be cool if we had pixel shaded water in our games). Now virtually all games do (go FAR CRY!).
