DigiTimes says that NVIDIA has plans to trade some of its GPU technology to Intel in exchange for cooperation with the company. NVIDIA had no comment on the story and no further details have been released.

Nvidia has had discussions with Intel and has already reached several agreements for cooperation, noted the sources, adding that details of the agreements remain unknown. Nvidia Taiwan declined to comment on the report.

Maybe this means we'll finally see SLI impplemented on some Intel chipsets? I hope so :D .

None of these discussions had anything to do with the two companies merging, of course.

If they merge this would be awesome. I think if this happens, AMD/ATI is done for. Intel and Nvidia would have massive cash reserves to hit back and hit back hard.

No, INTEL has massive cash reserves, Especially with the Apple Deal and the C2D.

I think this would be the WORST thing period. I can see it eventually turning into a forced Intel + nVidia OR AMD / ATI venture and the consumer getting the shaft

No merge please. I don't think it will happen and it shouldn't.

Well, if what Kyle said about NVIDIA's future "alone", in the State of the Silicon Union article, was true, then here's NVIDIA's response. They sure know what they're doing...

And I don't think this leads to any merger. At least not yet. NVIDIA is just securing some "cards" (pun not intended) to deal in the future. If there are plans for a merger, I don't believe it will happen so soon.

How is that possibly awesome? Intel has already proven a willingness to assrape the consumers with their monopoly power. If they had both a GPU and CPU monopoly you'd see the price of a midrange computer jump $500 in a year and the upper range jump $1000-$1500 easily.

Mis-quote, meant to quote Ockie.

LoL, it's Ockie, he doesn't exactly think things though before posting.

I don't think nVidia is ready merge, they are on the up and up still.

The only potential I see for awesomeness is NVidia backed by Intel's massive research base, but even then that only helps those that buy the absolute bleeding-edge items regardless of cost. The rest of us end up paying more for what would have been available anyway.

Would you like to see Nvidia charging 200+ dollars for a crappy graphics card because they're the only company that makes GC's?! You really got to have a wider perspective than the whole "ATI is sh1T!". Look at it from a business perspective, I'm a Nvidia F@nboy myself but I sure as hell do NOT want to see ATI go under.
