sorry, but more disapearing fences does not equal better better transparency AA

The reason the fences in the top-right don't disappear in the NV screenshot is because they are NOT being antialiased. Look closely at the jaggies. Those lines are too thin to adequately apply AA, hence in some spots they are basically invisible in the ATi shot (which is applying AA). I do like the fact they can be seen using TRAA (whether it is intended or otherwise), but as far as AA quality goes the ADAA shot is easily better.

EDIT : I presume these shots are using performance mode? I never noticed any transparent textures not being antialiased correctly when using the quality setting on my 7800GTX.

TRAA is not as good as TSAA or is it as good as ADAA and TSAA is better then TRAA and ADAA, only when you have very thin objects, ADAA tends to blend more around the edges so thin objects tend to disappear. The jagies TSAA and ADAA do a equally good job depending on which angle you look at the objects from, both algos are very similiar, just that the sample arragement is opposite on ATi and nV cards.

wow my head hurts, but i agree, i prefer the look of the thinner blended edges of ADAA over the more robust straight feeling of TR/TS

IMHO, comparing TRAA with ADAA, I believe ADAA is slightly better. So this is my choice for the poll.
But since TSAA was mentioned in other posts, comparing it to ADAA, TSAA seems superior to me.

[H] even give's the nod to NV in the AA department.

Oh, and if i was blind then it would be a GIVEN that i would not be able to read .

Ok, I'll let you slide on that, blind men don't read too well. :D

All I was saying is if you look at the pictures of the same level of AA, in this case 4x ADAA and 4X TRAA there is very little visible difference.

Well, most have no trouble reading brail, but I don't suppose that matters, nor does it really pertain to the topic ;)

When was the last time a blind person read an internet forum in brail?

Guys, you should seriously consider getting back on topic, otherwise a mod will come in here and be more than happy to press the lock button.

Basically, the way I see things right now, while there are differences between what people perceive in TRAA and ADAA, Nvidia's TRAA is generally regarded as superior way of doing things, although ATI is generally all around known for better IQ, especially with HQAF.

Nvidia's transparency AA, Like its other forms of supersampling apply a slight negative LoD offset to their supersampling methods. This offset is also found in modes such as 4xS, 8xS, 16xS or any mode that uses supersampling. The result is generally slightly sharper looking objects that would normally appear duller. An example obviously being the HL2 fences come out thicker look around them if they werent anti aliased.

Well I am waiting to hear on Lord Exodia and his feelings about both the commerical and the professional video cards. This post seems to have gone to the wayside so be nice if we could get his views now.
