My new 9800XT just came in and I remember there being a good set of steps to take and some utils to help with converting over from nVidia to ATI and vice versa.

Can someone point me at the correct set of steps to take and what utils to use?

(They went something like: uninstall current video card drivers, run some util to wipe all references of current video card, powerdown and swap cards, power up and install new drivers. But I want to be sure.)

Those steps are correct. NOrmally what I do is to uninstall current video card driver, reboot into safe mode, use some kind of driver cleaner, power off, swap cards and turn PC on.
