Spent the last few hours being dissapointed in my new surround setup.
Have two 660TIs in SLI, and three Dell S2440L monitors. Rest of the specs to eliminate questions, I7-3770K @ 4.5Ghz, 8GB 1866Mhz, 500GB Samsung 840 for game storage.
Nvidia 310.9 driver.
First I tried playing Far Cry 3. No matter what I try, I get stuttering when playing in surround. I disabled MSAA, set VSYNC and GPU frame rendering each to "1" which was the most playable setting. For the quality, doesnt matter if it was on low, medium, I was holding 58-60FPS with VSYNC on (high was in the 40s, very high about 30 with drops lower, and unplayable). But the movement wasnt smooth, and aiming very difficult.
I use Nvidia Inspector, and changed the SLI DX1x bit to a few different ones that are supposed to fix SLI issues. Didnt seem to do anything.
Then tried Borderlands 2. It doesnt seem to have any performance issues, and can max it out with VSYNC on fine. But the FOV is WAY off for the side screens. I can be looking at a building or object that would take me about 10 seconds to walk to on the middle screen, turn so its on one of the sides, and it makes it look so close, like its one step over.
The image quality of the sides screens in FC3 were pretty crappy, but the FOV wasnt messed up like that, at least not that bad.
Also, I know with Surround the side screens arent supposed to be the same aspect ratio because of the whole peripheral vision thing. But is there a way to not let it do that? It doesnt make sense really, because they are basically just doubling the peripheral vision effect, once by your actual eyes (how it should be) then again on the monitors.
Havent tried anything else yet, about to go to bed. Is this the norm for Surround, or does anyone know of any fixes for these issues? If this is how it always is, Im rather upset I spent the money on it.
EDIT:
Figured Id give Skyrim a try really quick. Tried Hayden's fix, and its not supported by the current verison.
