nVidia SLI Stuttering in BF3

I know that stuttering in BF3 is a known issue. Though it seems that after disabling HyperThreading, the game seems to run a hell of a lot smoother. Though I still do get some stuttering. And it does'nt happen in places where you would expect suttering to occur.

It's extremely random. I have tried the perfdisplayvisible 1 command. And everything is stable. And it happens pretty rarely, though I want it to go away for good.

SLIGTX570 1.320mb vram at ULTRA. Is this a known issue. Should I just wait for a driver fix or prepare to go to GTX670 with 2gb vram.

What do you guys think?

Both Nvidia cards and AMD cards suffer from microstuttering problem when in multicard set up. Hence I don't think it is the Vram issue given that AMD top end cards have 2GB ram.

Understood. So if it were more frequent then I should be worried huh. Though rare stuttering is microstutter, and have drivers reduced microsttutering in the past, or remedied it at least.

That's not microstuttering you're noticing, just regular old stutter. Simple check for what's wrong is to just turn down everything to medium/low and see if you're still getting it; if you're not, it's a possible vram bottleneck.

run low settings an i bet you anything the micro studder goes away.

i play multiplayer games for fun not to stare at eye candy, low is by far the smoothest setting even if your hardware can handle more and multiplayer has a way of taxing the system much more than single player does anyways so i best to run it that way imo.

i get good averages of 60-70 fps with high or ultra without AA on in multiplayer and don't get any microstuddering but i will get occasional lag spikes but to me overall getting over 100 fps almost all the time and never less than 80 something in the worst of situations lends itself to the smoothest online gameplay. :)

I was looking this up and it seems that with vsync enabled I should be using triple buffering. I enabled tripe buffering and the stuttering is gone. Though nVidia really needs to hurry up and relase a new driver for these goitches the game has.

Which drivers do you have? The new 285.79 Beta drivers improves some of those sturrering issues. I have an SLI setup as well so you might want to do a clean drivers install and give them at try

My friend was having problems with his GTX 570's in SLI as well. Going into BIOS and selecting x8 x8 under PCI selector solved his issues. It's at AUTO as default.
