NVIDIA Project Shield

They're targeting such a small niche with the shield. I just see no compelling reason to shell out $350 dollars for this thing when dedicated handhelds like the 3DS and Vita get amazing games and dedicated tablets are more portable and productive.
 
So I buy a Shield.
I have GTX 780s in my computer.

Let's say I load up Tomb Raider on my computer......

So I can play the game on the Shield, and watch it on my computer screen in Surround? as well as on the Shield screen, as long as I'm in the vicinity?
Could it also stream the game to me from my computer to the Shield if I'm in my living room not in the vicinity of the computer....all things being equal?

Sorry if this is all written somewhere, but I haven't followed it too closely.

AFAIK the pc screen resolution is set to 720p when streaming.

I've seen 30 feet range reported on reviews.

Its 299 now. Still kind of expensive though.

Thanks, but can I play any game on the Shield if I have it on my PC? Or is there a short list?:D

There's a list of supported games from steam, but you can also try unsuppoted games and apps.
 
I'm really curious to see how exactly steam works with this device. If you can install a game from steam directly to sheild, (and be able to play in offline mode), I'd buy one today. I see a little appeal to using it at home on wifi, at home I already have 4 systems (in 3 rooms) setup I can "game" on with much larger displays then Shield has.
What I want is a device I can game on away from home and I don't want to have to buy another system specific copy of the games I already own. $300 bucks still seems on the pricey side for this. It should come with a free 650TI Boost for that price :)
 
I've tried over and over again to wrap my head around this things selling point and I just don't get it.

I don't see it as anything other than a flopped failed experiment...nVidia in "me too" mode.

Could be that Nvidia knows something about the future of Android gaming we don't. I see the Steam thing as a curiosity and not a formidible selling point.

To be fair I don't quite get it, but I find myself wanting one when I see it.

You can only install android games, You can stream PC games via wireless.
 
they need to open this to AMD gpu's too or it will be like physx no one cares.
 
The more I see this thing the more I want one.......

But......I'm not sure it would be so useful away from the range of my PC, so......300 dollars?
