nvidia powerpack support for PPU?

I have ordered the asus p1e physics card, be here tommorrow. Will it work with the NVIDIA Power pack software released today? Not CUDA coverter just the physx stuff.
System specs:
e4300, gigabyte ga-945gc-s2c mobo, 2gigs ddr2 800, radeon hd4850, 600 watt themaltake psu
wd320, wd 500 wd 640 hds,and a 4gig gigabyte I-ram (set up as page file) asus 16x dvd burner, win xp pro, vista home premium dual booting using bios f12, os is on separate drives. I think the physx drivers from nvidia support the ppu.
 
Reportedly 8 series and up nvidia cards perform better with PhysX than do standalone PPUs.
 
The original Ageia PPU is still fully supported by the latest drivers.

After you install the latest PhysX drivers, you go into the NVIDIA PhysX Control Panel and there will be three options:

“No Acceleration”
“GeForce PhysX”
“AGEIA PhysX”

At that point you select “AGEIA PhysX” and any game that supports hardware PhysX acceleration will be accelerated using the PPU.

There are currently no games that *only* work with GPU physx. PhysX is PhysX and the only difference between running on a GPU, PPU, or CPU is speed not compatibility.

I’m still personally looking forward to seeing more benchmarks than just one random German article which seems to be what people are using as the basis of their reasoning when they make comments suggesting that an 8-series GPU is faster. There are other benchmarks that disagree, and it remains a viable choice for those with ATi cards that want to take advantage of PhysX, such as myself.

yeah, driverheaven's physx preview shows the ppu running only slightly behind a 9600gt specifically used for physx.

not too shabby for 2+ yr old tech, lol. also like you mentioned, the only viable option at the moment for ati users wanting to run hardware physx.

as for me, im going to be doing some testing over the next week or so, comparing physx performance between running on my cpu, a single 8800GT, a ppu, 8800GTs in SLI, and a second 8800GT strictly for physx and see how they all compare. this will be fun!
 
I have the PhysX card and a 8800GTX, but the drivers installed weird on my rig. After I get the issue solved I'll post back.
 
To install the international drivers without the error message... Extract the files, remove the PhysX setup exe from the folder, run setup for the video drivers, then run the PhysX setup. However after playing around with the drivers...either way seems to have the same end result. The PhysX Control panel says it needs to be in Administrator mode to made any changes (which is funny because I ran it under an admin account and still had the same message). To fix make a shortcut to the PhysX.cpl file in your Windows/System32 directory, then right click on the shortcut and run as Administrator when you want to change the settings.

So far I'm impressed comparing the 2 cards. The single 8800 is edging out the PhysX card atm, but I need to check out more apps.
 
I'am totaly not impressed.
First all current PhysX games and mod where made for the 2year old PPU in mind.
A G92 GPU running UT3 in CPU bound setting can do the PPU load just fine. GFX stressed it do a bit less. As people are yet again benching PhysX looking at FPS ? Wich make no sense.
If GPU are just as good for Physics the wil performe at least near or equal, but per transistor count and dieshrink ratio to a PPU. Most GPU have 3 tot 11 times the transistor count and 2,25 smaller dieshrink. And may draw a lot of power Watts.

What I like to see is more Physics. Not FPS. FPS is just a requierment depending on the kind of game and play style must be above 25 to 60fps. What gpGPU would bring is more Physics. As it replace PPU nextgen it must be a lot better then PPU1.

I wonder what NExtgen PhysX game will bring putting a extra dedicated G-card to good use by stressing it full. With as result not just playble FPS but a very Physics enrich game in a good way.

So what modders can do now is make a UT3 PHYSX map wich can stress a dedicated GTX280 with lots of PhysX features put to good use in the mod. Next to a other GTX280 for rendering.
 
I am impressed however...

They took a great concept tech and brought it to (half of) the masses at no charge!!!

It was a chicken/egg effect up till now. No one wanted to buy a PPU cause of cost and games that were out, no one wanted to make games because no one bought the PPU. Now everyone (with a nVidia card 8+ or PPU) has PPU support built in. Now the developers can now make games that can use physics because the user base just got a big boost. PPU tech is still at the early stages but it's moving in the right direction. (Keep in mind the ATI crowd is out-of-loop without a dedicated PPU atm.) Once ATI is on-board then we should start seeing true advancements (because it will have a massive install base if ATI can support it on the last several generations like nVidia did).

Now for the topic at hand...
I still have not had a chance to really get into testing both side by side extensively yet so this is a little premature... but the 8800 rig is really looking when compared to the Ageia card.
