So I convinced my friend to get a 5900XT instead of the 5700 he was going to get, telling him about the kind of OCs people here had been getting (He's a big Linux user so nVidia's a must). He's suitably impressed with it at stock speeds but he's itching to see what kind of performance he can squeeze out of it...

The problem is that I've never really paid much attention to GPU overclocking (just CPU for me) so I can't really tell him which tools to use.

Help me out, what are the best/simplest utils for OCing a GeForce FX?

Same suggestion. CoolBits owns. Use it myself on my own nicely oc'ed 5900xt.

That's exactly what I was looking for...

I remembered somebody talking about the OC features of the nvidia drivers, but I couldn't find 'em.

thx all.

I use RivaTuner, but it's a bit hairy as far as the interface goes. The thing I really like about it is the temp & clock monitor graph.
I'd advise staying away from PowerStrip. I installed Spy Sweeper a while ago, and it had all kinds of nasty things to say about PowerStrip. Basically something about built-in spyware or adware, but I forget the details. I'd just avoid it if something else can do what you need done.
