Nvidia overclocking software like ATI TOOL

Alrighty ill start by saying this. We need Nvidia cards to be able to get volt control from software like ATi. Plain and simple. I was wondering if this is at all possible. Maybe some sort of app called NvidiaTool or something. I really love controlling the volts on the ati cards but on nvidia you have 2 choices and those are bios flashes or hardmods. I was wondering why there is no app to do something like this.
 
I'll bet rivatuner will bring it to the table first. This is a good question BTW. Why isn't there an nvtool. One that will let you change volts test for artifacts and check the temperature scaling of the card.
 
ATItool was created by W1zzard, who is big into the ATI scene; he used to frequent these forums, but I don't see him much anymore. It would take someone with good programming skills and who is big in the Nvidia side of things who has a lot of spare time, to write a "nvtool" type program. If any of you fit the description, get on it :cool:
 
Well considering when you select higher voltages on a 7800 GTX with a bios editor, they don't do anything I don't see much point. Although I guess it could be useful for 7800 GT users as they don't use the max voltage te card is capable of, but with a GTX the only thing you can do is drop the voltage,

What I am interested in seeing is a bios editor for the X1800/X1900 series, I don't like the idea of my screen flickering everytime an overclock is applied with a software utility. I prefer to find the max stable speed of a card and then set it in the bios and forget it.
 
set it and forget it! where have we heard this before?!?!?! :p well ati just has made our lives easier and i love em for it.

No, he is referring to the infomercial that coined the phrase "set it and forget it". I saw that infomercial a long time ago and really thought it was cool. Oh how quicky it broiled a rack of lamb. :p

Well i still wish i could change the volts on my about to be 7900gt. I really want to overclock that beast...
 
the host would say "set it" and the audience would say "and forget it". Ewww, awful to hear even if it was catchy. The concept was very cool indeed.

I hope you get your program. There are plenty smart people out there. They just need to listen.

agreed, i wish someone would come out with something like atitool for nvidia, im able to get to 499 on my core, but it seems like a need a bit more juice to get to that 500! btw, not to change the topic or anything, is there a way to increase the voltage via a different bios for a gtx? or can you just lower it?
 
The BIOS editors simply allow you to change the labels. The GTX is at the maximum voltage, already (1.4V ). The 7800 GTX 512 was 1.45 V and the new 7900 GTX is 1.4V once again.

BTW, the 500 clock is where the 7800 GTX ups the ROP/Shader core to 513 from 486. That is why you get the lockups.

As for the voltage on the fly setting. Well, that would have negative ramifications on the NVIDIA warranty. Currently some companies, like EVGA, support their cards even if they have been OC'd. Add a voltage tie to the BIOS, and that support will most likely evaporate, and lifetime warranties (which are for the original owner only - not transferrable) will go up in smoke like some peoples' over volted GPU cores.

I simply use the NVIDIA coolbits for OC'ing my card. ATITool was a bit of a pain on the X1900XTX. The 2D - 3D mode change of the ATI driver is kind of nice to maintain. I found it easier to hit 7K in 06 on the 7900 GTX than the X1900XTX.
 
yeah, i was using atitool to OC my 7800gtx but it started giving me artifacts on the artifactn testing part...i also read over on xs that 500 was one of those big deltas wehre the card ups the ROP/Shader

however, when i set it manually to 500 in rivatuner, it seemed to work ok and i ran through 3dmark05
no artifacts but i did see some weird stuff going on with the shadows, seemed like they were a bit messed up and the edges were reallllly unsmooth...i decided to lower my memory oc but i am yet to test it out
anyways, back on topic ;)
regarding volt regulators - i read over at xs taht people were doing physical mods to up their voltage which seemed to work rather well; hwoever, a software mod would be so much easier

It took him weeks to test and debug that thing

hmm ya thats another option in ati tool you can adjust the sensitivety of the artifact scanner on new cards it seems the orig setting is a bit much so you have to town it down just watch your temps.
