Nvidia or Silicon Image controller?

I'm doing a new build and putting Windows XP x64 on a single WD 150GB Raptor. I'll be O/Cing my Opteron 165. Which controller would you guys recommend that I put the Raptor on? Nvidia or Silicon Image? Any other advice before I start my build would be appreciated. Thanks in advance....
 
I've always found the onboard controller to be faster than the Silicon image one.
 
Stick with the chipset SATA channel. There should be less latency for one. You can turn off the raid ports which will speed up your boot time.

Most importaintly, you will have to make a driver boot disk to stick in your floppy to install windows on it.
 
I have my raptor on the nvidia and my DM 10s on the Sil3114, but that is only due to reports of incompatability with those particular hard drives on the nVidia controller.

You have any problems with corruption on the HD with your HTT at 312?
 
nope, i've heard that you can only really see corruption if u push the overall HTT beyond spec, i'm running 312 at a 3x so 936 instead of the regular 1000. No corruption here. :D

It could if your sata controller is on HT and the bus is overclocked.
