Hi,
Anybody has experience downloading drivers for SN25P? I see nVidia has newer versions, but somewhere I read Shuttle had special drivers for their computers, so I don't know exactly where to download from.
I've been using my SN25P for three weeks now and I'm confused about some issues.
1. My SATA Seagate hard drive, makes some strange noises. Those noises happen even before booting windows, so I know any drivers will not help. I read it can happen because new Seagate drives keep moving the head on idle, so they wear out evenly or something like that.
2. I don't understand why decoding a file with razorlame (mp3 160 kbps) takes 26 seconds on my new AMD X2 4200, and 10 seconds in my Centrino 1.4 ghz laptop.
3. My 2 year old 120 GB hard drive, which I put inside a USB2 box, seems to be over two times faster and many times more quiet than the SATA 300 GB drive inside my pc (at least when searching for a file). Is FAT32 much faster than NTFS? is that the reason for the speed difference? Also it's possible that an external drive is quieter than a drive inside the pc, because the bigger box resonates and makes it more loud.
Those little things make me not so happy about the switch. The laptop also was totally silent. Of course the X2 can proccess my RAW photos faster. But maybe I should just get a core duo laptop...
Anyone with similar hardware there could help me check if I'm getting less performance than I should? (maybe with a benchmark software, compressing a similar file or using some photoshop filter).
Thanks
