Hello,

As you can see in my sig i currently have a 6950, going to sell that card and move on up..question is..what gpu do i spring for in 2 weeks time thats no more than $300?

Your two best choices are the 7950 or the 660Ti in that price range. I have the 7950 from MSI and love it!

thanks, thats what I was looking at...I actually prefer AMDs driver so I think i'll spring for the 7950.

Im looking for tons of overclocking headroom and a lifetime warranty if possible.

also, is the extra factory clock speed and memory worth it for the boosted edition?

Well in my opnion
7950 is the best cost/benefit
you can OC it easy to 1000mhz, it is cheaper than a 660ti and about the same performance as 670

nvidia all the way. nothing but problems with the other at least for me.

A 7950 is a good choice at its current price if you don't mind the heat and noise. Overclocking them only makes those problems even worse, but otherwise, it performs well. If those issues are a concern, you would be better to go with a 660Ti in the same price range.

The 7950 and 660Ti are both good in my book, I've owned both, but really stability wise the 660Ti is much easier to deal with. Plus I don't have to use TriXX to get past 1100 core lol.

Just a heads up, the XFX Double D cooler is pretty damn loud and not the greatest for temps, but for $289 the dual dvi card with the 7970 pcb might be worth a look.

AMD or Nvidia ? The debate can never be conclusive.
7870 or 7950 are good beasts as far as I understand.

I like the performance and overclocking potential on 7950.
I like the drivers, stability, and physx for 660 ti.
Both fine choices really.

i just replaced my (dead) XFX HD6870 w/ a Sapphire HD7950 it runs 20C cooler than the XFX HD6870 and is considerably quieter than the XFX HD6870 was.

unplanned upgrade but meh it is nice

(other than not fitting in my case without taking the drive cage out LOL :D

Nice overgeneralisation there. If you are referring to a reference 7950 then it is indeed noisier, but considering the majority of 7950s are non-reference custom cooled versions then it is moot.

The only reason to purchase a reference 79x0 card these days is if you plan to stick a water block on it.
