Nvidia nforce4 parallel ata controller

I installed chipset 6.86 and then flashed bios to 1016, after rebooting to windows xp it says that I have to install the parallel ata controller. I checked the device manager ide ata/atapi controller and everything is fine. Do i have to install the parallel ata controller and if I do where do I download this driver?

it is in the nvidia chipset drive and no you dont need it...

Also, this driver is known to cause lots if issues IIRC. (it did for me at least)

Is there any way of preventing the the install new software window from poping up?

I was having a similar problem after updating my bios. I reformatted and I no longer got a new hardware found window. Before that I tried reinstalling my drivers, that didn't help. I'm sorry that my solution is probably not what you wanted to hear, but it worked for me.
