Interesting the NV48 is listed, wonder what that will appear as if anything at all. Very odd Nvidia changed its GPU identification as well. I personally did not like the NV40 core, and i really do hope this is completely different from that core. Personal experiances with requring bios flashing, farcry and EQ2 stuttering, and graphical oddities in HL2. Makes me think twice as i was quite sure i would be heading the way of R520.

The G70 sounds like a Quadro update. And as for nVidia's next generation, I am hoping they put some of that Cell tech they have access to from Sony into it. A Cell based GPU, that's where it's at.
 
Naw, it's a new chip. And the NV48 is simple to explain: theinq was wrong when they said it was cancelled. It's just an optimized die shrink (110nm) anyways with native PCI-E support. http://www.digitimes.com/mobos/a20041220A7039.html

The numbering of the device ID is rolled back to before the NV11. This is pretty interesting. I wonder if nvidia will "preview" the next generation card when ATI introduces the R520 soon. :p Those crazy kids.

Nah, they won't. That would require programmers to learn a whole new style of programming for games. As you well know that the corporate mongers who run game companies will not do anything that will inhibit them from getting a new car for their 3 year old daughter. Sorry..forgot to turn of sarcasm this morning.

Well they are going to have to do something since there is a limit to how much you can shrink this stuff and up the clock speeds. Take a look at the CPUs, that is why they are switching to dual core, so I don't think mulicore GPUs are too far fetched.

not necessarily. they (GPU designers) could incorporate some of the cool things cell does, and then *they* would have to modify the drivers to process the directX or opengl calls in the appropriate manner. will they bother? I doubt it, but its possible.
